Commercial, institutional and industrial building owners and operators continue to look for four fundamental benefits from their building systems:

  1. A productive work environment
  2. Lower overall operating costs
  3. Lower risks
  4. Lowest total installed costs

In order to meet these needs, critical information from multiple building subsystems must be shared and managed.  In the past, integration of the subsystems was done using proprietary protocols based on subsystem industry specific expertise.  As we move forward, it is important that a standardized protocol and methodologies be used across building systems.  At Trane, we believe, and are investing, in implementing XML, an IT standard, as the basis for our enterprise level products.
